2004 Bmw 5 Series Wont Reverse

2004 bmw 5 series wont reverse. It used to work fine every time - Im not doing anything differently. The engine justs revs when trying to move in reverse. It still drives but does not change gears.

--35mph 5th to 6th hesitation 5-6 hard shift sport mode going 45-55 mph slow to engage reverse -- gear shifting in general is just sloppy the loaner that the dealer provided shifted great. Drives only on first gear. Have you been power braking the car or reving it up and dumping the tranny.
